The Union Trust Building (Core and Shell), one of Pittsburgh’s landmark historic buildings, has attained LEED Silver Certification under LEED v.3 (2009). The certification process is quite involved, especially as it applies to sealing up an historic building’s envelope. Many high efficiency systems were included in the building’s renovation, including a high-efficiency chiller plant, high-efficiency lighting, low flow plumbing fixtures. and minimization of infiltration into the main atrium. Congratulations to Mascaro Construction Company, Perfido, Weiskopf, Wagstaff and Goettel Architecture, The Davis Companies, Clista Electric and McKamish for this achievement.
